| Why Choose Hardwood Flooring? |
This is our specialty --
we are your local hardwood experts. We know
hardwood floors inside and out, and we will be happy to
answer any questions you may have. If it is hardwood
flooring that you desire in your home or business, we will
help you fine the perfect solution for any space and budget.
Hardwood flooring is one of the longest-lasting flooring
products available. It is natural and non-allergenic, adds
unbeatable beauty and warmth to a room, and is one of the
few flooring options that actually add value to your home.
Because wood flooring is a natural product, the look of the
floor will change over time as the wood matures and is
exposed to sunlight (an evolution called patina).
Hardwood floors are available in many widths, from narrow
strips to wide planks, and from short to long. Designers
will say that a narrow strip gives a room a formal feel,
while a wide plank creates a more country and casual feel.
In addition, the longer and wider the boards, the more
expensive the wood will be, since more thin and short boards
can be cut from a tree than wide and long boards.

| Why Choose Solid
Hardwood Flooring? |
With
solid hardwood flooring, you can sand and refinish the floor
to give it a whole new look several times over the life of
the floor (which can be over 100 years!). Solid hardwood
floors have an unmistakable sound when you walk on them, an
attribute you won’t get with laminate. Another benefit of
solid hardwood flooring is that the floor will actually add
structural strength to the floor system due to its
thickness. One limitation of solid hardwood is that it
cannot be installed on a concrete floor - although
engineered hardwood can.
Pros
- Beautiful
- Long lasting
- Custom stain color possible
- Adds strength to floor
- Deep, solid sound walking on floor |
Cons
- Cannot be installed below grade or on concrete
- Limited water resistance |

| Why Choose Unfinished Hardwood
Flooring or Sand & Refinish?
|
If you desire a very smooth floor with no
grooves at the seams, then starting with an unfinished
floor or choosing Floor Store USA to sand and refinish
your existing floor is the right choice. Unfinished
flooring allows for true customization. You can choose a
stain that will best compliment existing furniture or
architecture in your home (such as a fireplace, wall
paint, or existing cabinetry).
Prefinished flooring pieces have a slightly “kissed”
edge to allow for the normal manufacturing variances of
each individual board thickness. The “kissed” edge
(which means that the top edge is slightly notched)
ensures a level floor with no obvious discrepancies in
board height. On the other hand, when you sand an
installed floor, it perfectly levels the floor,
resulting in a seamless and completely smooth floor.
Another advantage to this procedure is the resulting
ease in keeping the floor clean, since there are no
grooves for dirt or dust to collect in.
Floor Store USA uses a dustless Bona Kemi system for
sanding floors. Traditional sanding systems create large
amounts of dust, often leaving a large mess for the
homeowner as the dust can spread into the heating and
ventilation system, cling to the walls, and find its way
onto just about any flat surface. The created dust can
quickly become a headache. With our system, you need not
worry -- the Bona Kemi sanding system we utilize
captures 98% of all created dust.

| Why Choose Prefinished Flooring? |
Prefinished flooring is a good option for
buyers looking for a faster installation process. The
wood strips or planks are finished in the factory
instead of in your home. Manufacturers often use
proprietary finishes that give superior protection
and/or are coated more times than would be feasible in a
post-install finishing process. Prefinished (vs
unfinished) solid hardwood is also more cost-effective
-- since no sanding and staining is required, the
ultimate cost of the installed floor is often lower.
Pros
- Faster installation than unfinished
- Durable factory finish |
Cons
- Cannot customize finish color
- Limited water resistance |
